Art Basel Miami Beach 2024: An Overview
The renowned Art Basel fair is gearing up for its 2024 edition in Miami Beach, with Bridget Finn at the helm for the first time. This year’s event marks the largest influx of new exhibitors since 2008, offering a refreshed program that appeals to both fresh and returning visitors.
Welcoming a Diverse Range of Galleries
A total of 286 galleries from 38 nations will showcase their outstanding programs at the fair. Two-thirds of these exhibitors are based in the Americas, representing a mix of young, mid-size, and prestigious galleries from countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, Peru, and Uruguay. This is in line with the fair’s dedication to highlighting a variety of artistic voices from the region.
Inaugural Participants Make Their Mark
Art Basel Miami Beach introduces 34 galleries new to the event, thanks to a fresh entry-level booth option. This initiative supports smaller and mid-size galleries as they enter the fair’s primary sector. These newcomers hail from the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
Exciting Events and Exhibitions
The event, supported by UBS as the Global Lead Partner, will feature a week full of exhibitions, events, performances, and special projects throughout Miami and South Florida. The fair is scheduled for December 6-8, 2024, with exclusive VIP Preview Days on December 4 and 5 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Strong Representation from the Americas
This year’s fair will see new participants from Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Argentina, alongside debut exhibitors from the United States and Canada. European presence expands with new galleries from Spain, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, France, and Poland, with Romania joining for the first time. Additionally, Asia introduces exhibitors from China, Singapore, and South Korea, and Indonesia participates for the first time.
Innovative Booth Options and Pricing Models
This edition of the fair will see 31 galleries entering the main sector for the first time. These galleries represent countries including the United States, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, China, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Uganda, and Nigeria. A new minimum-size booth option was introduced to make entry more accessible and equitable for small and mid-sized galleries. The fair also employs a sliding scale pricing system, ensuring fairness across all market segments.
