Van Cleef & Arpels Hosts High Jewelry Exhibition in Geneva
From November 23rd to December 30th, 2023, the Van Cleef & Arpels boutique at 31 rue du Rhône in Geneva, Switzerland, will host the “Emblematic High Jewelry Creations” exhibition. Visitors will have the chance to see nearly sixteen historic pieces from the Maison’s patrimonial collections.
A Legacy of Excellence in Geneva
The first Geneva boutique opened in 1960, quickly attracting clients who appreciated the Maison’s craftsmanship. In 2013, the exhibition “Van Cleef & Arpels: 50 years of history in Geneva” celebrated the brand’s longstanding connection with Switzerland. Now, almost a decade later, the High Jewelry creations return to the historic boutique.
Centerpiece of Innovation: The Zip Necklace
One of the standout pieces in the exhibition is the impressive Zip necklace, created in 1951. This innovative piece showcases a variety of precious stones, including diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds.
Remarkable High Jewelry Pieces
The exhibition also features other extraordinary items, such as the Cinq Fleurs clip and the Pastilles earrings, both created in 1951. These pieces highlight the Mystery Set technique, patented by the Maison in 1933. This method involves individually setting specially cut stones to fully cover the metal, enhancing the gems’ natural beauty.
The Mystery Set Technique
The Mystery Set technique, first patented by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1933, brings these creations to life. This method involves cutting stones precisely to fit together perfectly, covering the metal base and showcasing the gems’ natural brilliance.
