Introduction to Jagger Eaton’s Visit
Jagger Eaton, a two-time World Champion in skateboarding and Olympic medallist, recently visited the IWC Manufakturzentrum in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. This was Eaton’s first trip to the hometown of the Swiss luxury watchmaker, IWC Schaffhausen, with whom he became associated earlier this year. They spent the day immersed in the worlds of horology and skateboarding, giving each other an insight into their respective fields.
Post-Competition Welcome
After participating in the WST Lausanne Street 2023, Eaton was warmly welcomed by IWC Schaffhausen to their home city. Competing in both the men’s Street and Park disciplines for the US, making him a dual threat, Eaton arrived with his signature positive attitude and cool style, carrying a skateboard and wearing an IWC watch.
A Tour of IWC’s Heritage
The tour commenced at IWC’s headquarters and museum, located in the heart of Schaffhausen next to the Rhine River. Situated by the Rhine River, which has been integral to the watchmaker’s history and remains so today. The tour proceeded to the IWC Manufakturzentrum, a short distance from the headquarters, and concluded at the renowned Rhine Falls.
The IWC Manufakturzentrum
The Manufakturzentrum was inaugurated in 2018 to celebrate the brand’s 150th anniversary. The Manufakturzentrum is a state-of-the-art facility that combines component production, case-making, and movement assembly under one roof. During the tour, Eaton closely observed the stages from raw materials to completed watch movements and cases.
Hands-On Experience
Both IWC and Eaton believe in learning by doing, so Eaton donned a watchmaker’s coat, rolled up his sleeves, and worked on an IWC movement. Never one to miss a chance to skate, he took a ride through the manufactory center and performed some maneuvers outside.
Eaton’s Impressions
Reflecting on the visit, he remarked, “It has been incredible to see the attention to detail, craftsmanship, and engineering behind every IWC watch.” He highlighted the uniqueness of his experience as a person from Mesa, Arizona, getting to visit Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and skate through the IWC manufactory center. This playful spirit, combined with their rich heritage and unmatched horological expertise, is exactly what attracted me to IWC.
A Commemorative Gift
To commemorate his visit, IWC presented Eaton with a specially made skateboard. The skateboard featured an original Inkdial drawing of Eaton’s Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Ceratanium®, created by his long-term board partner, The Heart Supply.
Eaton’s IWC Timepiece
During the visit, Eaton wore his Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Ceratanium® (Ref. IW388106), powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre. The matte black case is paired with a black dial, and Eaton added a personal touch with a yellow EasX-CHANGE® system rubber strap. The watch features white luminescent hands and detailing, ensuring excellent readability at any time.
