Tiffany & Co. Teams Up with Paul Rousteau
Tiffany & Co. has initiated a remarkable collaboration with the emerging Parisian artist, Paul Rousteau, to transform the Opéra Garnier.
Transformation During Paris Fashion Week
Beginning on September 29th, 2023, right in the midst of Paris Fashion Week, the historic venue’s façades will be illuminated by Tiffany & Co.'s iconic Sixteen Stone ring, designed by the legendary Jean Schlumberger.
Celebrating French Artistic Expression
This daring transformation highlights Tiffany & Co.'s steadfast dedication to French art and its deep affection for Paris. The Opéra Garnier also symbolizes a nostalgic return to the brand's origins in the city, as Tiffany opened its first Parisian store at Place de l'Opéra in 1910.
A Stage for the Iconic Ring
The façades of Opéra Garnier are once again vibrant, showcasing Tiffany & Co.'s famous Sixteen Stone ring in a new artwork by Paul Rousteau, continuing a narrative that began at the Louvre.
The Sixteen Stone Ring's Legacy
Originally crafted in the 1950s, the Sixteen Stone ring features sixteen flawless diamonds set in the signature gold cross-stitches, reflecting Jean Schlumberger's inspiration from textile design.
"I try to make everything seem irregular, unpredictable, organic, in motion," – Jean Schlumberger, 1955.
"When Tiffany asked me to showcase the Sixteen Stone ring on the façade of the Opéra Garnier, I immediately thought of movement, of dance… The façade of the Opéra – proud, rich and imposing – begins to dance, free and light, around a sacred ring. This ring, with its magical powers, magnetises the most beautiful monument in Paris," says Paul Rousteau.
A New Chapter in Tiffany's Journey
The Opéra Garnier represents the third phase of Tiffany's artistic exploration in Paris. In October 2022, the brand debuted a digital cube at the Centre Pompidou during Nuit Blanche, followed by a grand trompe l'oeil at the Louvre in January 2023.
Legacy of Artistic Collaborations
Tiffany's tradition of fusing art with jewelry includes partnerships with icons like Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Daniel Arsham, now extending to the works of Jean Schlumberger and Paul Rousteau at Opéra Garnier.
