Radically open, neither a roof nor the windscreen separate the two passengers from the elements. You can experience light, air and passion unfiltered with all your senses. As the concept of our first Mythos vehicle, it embodies the highest level of exclusivity. Design elements such as the HALO also create a Formula 1 feeling. There is therefore no better place for its world premiere than Monaco.”

Unveiling the Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed Concept
The Concept Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed pays homage to the distinctive tradition of Mercedes‑Benz, embodying a pure race-car design, creative materials and state-of-the-art technology. This series, limited to a mere 250 units, is reserved for the most devoted Mercedes‑Benz fans and collectors. Drawing inspiration from iconic race cars, the blend of unparalleled racing aesthetics and unmatched dynamic performance make the Concept Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed a one-of-a-kind vehicle for connoisseurs. It represents the “peak of exclusivity” from Mercedes-Benz in the top-tier segment.
The HALO System: A Revolutionary Feature
A standout feature is the HALO system, a replacement for the traditional A-pillar in the vehicle. This component, drawn directly from top-tier motorsport, has been integrated into every Formula 1™ vehicle since 2018. It’s designed to protect the driver’s head during a collision. As in Formula 1™, the safety system in the Concept Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed includes a bracket connected to the vehicle’s body. This aerodynamically optimized element ensures occupant safety, much like in Formula 1™. The package also includes two aerodynamically optimized helmets, exclusively designed and manufactured for the Concept Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed. This offers a two-person Formula 1™ vision experience, with no roof, windscreen or side windows to obstruct the view. The interior features further highlights, including a unique color and equipment concept, as well as a custom-made IWC Schaffhausen clock on the dashboard.
Design Inspired by the Mercedes-AMG ONE Hypercar
The Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed concept is a true performance car with an extremely low profile. Many design elements are inspired by the Mercedes‑AMG ONE hypercar — the lower section of the car features sharply cut, visible carbon fiber parts, providing a bold contrast to the sensual, rounded shapes of the upper section.
Distinctive Wheel Design
The wheels’ design is characterized by the unique carbon fiber cladding on the front and rear wheel covers. The rear wheel covers are entirely closed to enhance aerodynamics, while the front covers are left open to maximize airflow at the front for brake cooling and downforce.
A True Sports Car
Typical elements of a sports car include the extended bonnet and a very low front end with a noticeable “shark nose”. The front design mirrors the Mercedes‑AMG ONE with a wide lower air intake featuring AMG lettering and a dark, chrome-plated Mercedes star on the soft nose. Also included is a sporty, aerodynamically optimized bonnet with an additional air outlet. Small, transparent deflectors at the front and sides guide the wind over the cockpit.
Design Details: A Tribute to Motorsport
Numerous design details hark back to motorsport history. The two flying buttresses behind the seats are evocative of legendary racing cars such as the 300 SLR, the vehicle in which Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson clinched victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia in Italy — achieving a record-breaking average speed of an astounding 157 km/h on public roads.
Historical References in Paintwork
The striking paintwork — a color gradient from Le Mans red to graphite grey with a black AMG pattern — recalls the color scheme of the triumphant Mercedes car at the 1924 Targa Florio race in Sicily. The victorious Mercedes 2-litre race car with the number 10 crossed the finish line first, with Christian Werner at the wheel. The number 10 is also featured on the front wings of the Concept Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed, referencing that Targa Florio victory a century ago.
