The Power of Proper Footwear
In a step towards revolutionizing strength training, Adidas has unveiled the Dropset 3, a high-performance shoe specifically designed for weight-based exercises. The shoe aims to provide enhanced stability, breathability, durability, and grip, empowering athletes to level up their training.
The Expert’s View
Dr Leada Malek, a renowned sports physical therapist, collaborated with Adidas to emphasize the importance of wearing the right shoes while strength training. She highlighted that the right footwear can significantly boost performance, improve posture, reduce pain and injury risk, and enhance quad activation.
Are you Wearing the Wrong Shoes?
Global research commissioned by Adidas revealed that seven out of ten gym-goers are making the mistake of wearing incorrect footwear for strength training. Surprisingly, nearly one-third of the participants opted for running shoes, while another third wore everyday trainers during their strength training sessions.
Why the Wrong Choice?
The study further delved into the reasons behind these footwear choices, finding that a quarter of participants were unaware of strength-specific footwear. Furthermore, around one in five gym-goers reported ‘flat soles’ as an influential factor in their choice of strength training shoes, emphasizing the need for more awareness about the benefits of appropriate footwear.
The Next Step in Adidas Training
The Dropset 3 marks a significant milestone in Adidas Training’s mission to empower next-gen athletes and help them confidently achieve their fitness goals. The shoe is designed for explosive strength training movements and is set to be tested by leading instructors from Les Mills and Tonehouse.
Dropset 3 Features
- Low midsole: With a 6mm drop height, it provides a flat grounded feeling for controlled stability, distributing weight evenly whilst transferring force from feet-to-ground, for a more accurate alignment whilst weight training.
- TRAXION® rubber: The multi-directional outsole features TRAXION® rubber to give added grip, helping the athlete to feel locked to the ground and reduce slipping.
- Integrated airflow window: Strategically placed in the sole’s TORSION SYSTEM, the window works with the upper knitted mesh material to provide the athlete with added ventilation and keep them cool.
“At adidas Training, we are committed to supporting our athletes on their respective training journeys and want to help optimize their performance at every step. Knowing how many individuals are unknowingly wearing the incorrect footwear whilst performing strength-based exercises underlines the additional awareness that is required. We know this type of training is a priority for next-gen athletes, so we are proud to be able to offer them a solution that can bring stability and strength to their routine.”
