Introduction to a Unique Acquisition
Tiffany & Co. recently announced their acquisition of a specially curated collection of rare pink diamonds from the former Argyle Diamond Mine in Australia.

Argyle Diamond Mine Overview
The Argyle Diamond Mine, situated in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, operated from 1983 until its closure in November 2020. This mine was globally recognized as one of the few sources of pink diamonds.
The Closing Cache of Diamonds
Though the mine has stopped operating, a small reserve of diamonds was extracted during the last phase of mining. In early 2022, Tiffany & Co. was exclusively offered this exceptional collection by Argyle, marking the first time Argyle has named a collection in honor of a jewelry brand. Tiffany & Co.’s selection underscores its status as the top supplier of the world’s most sought-after and finest diamonds.

The Composition of the Collection
Victoria Wirth Reynolds, Chief Gemologist at Tiffany & Co., revealed that the collection consists of 35 Argyle Pink™ Diamonds, including shades like Fancy Intense Pink and the extremely rare Fancy Red. She highlighted their alignment with Tiffany’s Diamond Craft Journey, which ensures clients know the origin of each diamond.
Exclusive Presentations and Future Prospects
The collection will be presented during select Tiffany High Jewelry events globally starting in early spring 2023. It will also feature in capsule collections and may be included in future Blue Book projects.
The Rare Qualities of Argyle Pink Diamonds
Sinead Kaufman, Chief Executive at Rio Tinto Minerals, emphasized the unique Australian origin and the billion-year-old history of these diamonds, now part of Tiffany & Co.’s exquisite craftsmanship.
The Rarity of Larger Diamonds
The diamonds, typically smaller than 1 carat due to their formation conditions, include three that are over 1 carat, making them extraordinarily rare. Each diamond from the Argyle Pink™ Diamonds: The Tiffany Collection comes with a Tiffany Diamond Certificate and an Argyle Pink™ Diamonds Certificate.
