Nimsdai Purja’s Historic Achievements
On October 4, 2024, British-Nepali mountaineer Nimsdai Purja, a former Gurkha and member of the UKSF, reached the top of Shishapangma alongside legendary Nepali climber Mingma G and his rope-fixing team.
Unmatched Climbing Feat
The duo successfully completed their mission to ascend all 14 of the world’s highest peaks without the aid of supplementary oxygen.
Fastest to Conquer the 14 Peaks
Nims became the fastest person to climb all 14 peaks without supplementary oxygen in a span of 2 years, 4 months, and 28 days, while also leading and guiding clients.
Achieving the 14 Peaks Twice
He is also the fastest and only person to have conquered all 14 peaks both with and without supplementary oxygen, achieving this remarkable feat in 5 years, 5 months, and 12 days from April 23, 2019, to October 4, 2024.
50 Summits Milestone
On October 9, Nims returned to Shishapangma for his second summit in five days, marking his 50th summit of mountains over 8,000 meters. He dedicated this milestone to the UK, Nepal, the Gurkhas, and the UKSF.
“Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with me since 2019 – I am truly grateful for your love and support. You are all forever part of these summits and successes. My mission has always been to raise the name of the Big Mountain communities, inspire people to believe in themselves and their dreams and to work hard to achieve their new possible.”

Tejan Gurung’s Achievement
On October 9, former British Commando Tejan Gurung, known as TJ, also reached the summit. He completed his own journey to the 14 Peaks in 2 years, 4 months, and 13 days, becoming the youngest British male to achieve this at 29 years old.
Dedication to Lost Friends
Nims dedicated his 14 Peaks No O2 records to his family and to Anna Gutu and Mingmar Sherpa, who tragically lost their lives in 2023 when avalanches struck Shishapangma.
A Tribute to Resilience
Nims and his Elite Exped team were able to rescue and repatriate Anna and Mingmar in Spring 2024, reuniting them with their families.
“I know Anna would have told me to come back and finish the mountain we started together, to show the world resilience and determination and to give her and Mingmar a fitting tribute and legacy – these new world records are dedicated to them, my family, and my dear mum and dad, who both sadly died after 2019”
